I am a certified RTY200 (Registered Yoga Teacher 200 hours) with over 500 hours of yoga classes taught. I owned a yoga and reiki studio from 2019-2021 where I taught Hatha and Yin Yoga classes. Yoga remains an essential part of my personal health and wellness practice.
Hatha Yoga
“Ha” means “sun” and “tha” means “moon”. Hatha yoga is considered the mother of all yoga and is the most common form of yoga. The body was designed to move and breath. If you have a body, you can do yoga! A Hatha yoga sequence includes a blend of standing and seated postures that are held for 3-5 breaths. Special attention is given to the even flow of breath in synchronized movements and in alignment of the spine so energy can flow freely. This class also includes guided meditation, intention setting, sound healing music and other stress reducing elements to calm your mind, body and spirit. Open to all levels of yoga experience.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a slower paced, gentle yoga class with seated, on the ground postures that are held for 3-5 minutes. Yin Yoga is designed to target the connective tissues such as the ligaments, bones and joints. Postures generally focus on the connective tissues in the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Props such as bolsters and blankets are used to support the body in longer holds which allow for deeper, gentle stretching and meditative practice. Benefits of yin yoga include increased range of motion, relaxation, patience, and learning to let go. Energy Medicine techniques are also included. Open to all levels of yoga experience.
