Yoga
The last yoga class at Inner Wisdom & Wellness was held on October 23, 2021. Inner Wisdom & Wellness no longer has a studio space for yoga classes. I am available to teach yoga on site for your private group or business wellness events. For information on scheduling this please visit the contact page.
The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word “yuj” which means “to join, yoke, union.” Yoga is the union of mind and body. Through the practice of physical postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), meditation, mindfulness, and mantra, yoga can be physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually healing.
Yoga relaxes the body and mind and contributes to optimal health and wellness. Scientific studies support the following benefits of yoga: decreases stress, relieves anxiety, reduces inflammation, improves heart health, improves quality of life, fights depression, reduces chronic pain, promotes better sleep, improves flexibility and balance, improves breathing, relieves migraines, promotes healthy eating habits, and increases strength. Yoga is also something that everybody can do because you meet your body where you are at and there are modifications for every posture (asana). We only have one body to carry us through this life, and yoga helps us take care of it.
Yoga calms the mind, feeds the soul, and promotes inner peace. Everyone can do yoga because you meet yourself where you are at. Bring your mind and body back into balance! Check out the following yoga classes I love to teach.

Hatha Yoga
“Ha” means “sun” and “tha” means “moon”. Hatha yoga is considered the mother of all yoga and is the most common form of yoga. It is a gentle style of yoga for anyone and everyone. Hatha yoga sequences are designed to include a blend of standing and seated postures that are held for 3-5 breaths. Special attention is given to the even flow of breath in synchronized movements and in alignment of the spine so energy can flow freely. This class also includes meditation, mindfulness, mantra, music and other stress reducing elements to calm your mind, body and spirit. Open to all levels of yoga experience.
Yin Yoga
Yin Yoga is a slower paced, gentle yoga class with more seated on the ground postures that are held for 3-5 minutes. Yin Yoga is designed to target the connective tissues such as the ligaments, bones and joints rather than the muscles. Postures generally focus on the connective tissues in the hips, pelvis and lower spine. Props such as bolsters and blankets are used to support the body in longer holds which allow for deeper, gentle stretching and meditative practice. Benefits of yin yoga include increased range of motion, relaxation, patience, and learning to let go. This class is open to all levels of yoga experience.
